What is a Bitcoin address?
What is a bitcoin address? Is it the same as a blockchain address? How about a deposit address? This article will provide you with some insights into these terms.
A bitcoin address, or BTC address, is similar to an email address: it is used to receive and send funds on the bitcoin network (like you use your email address to send and receive messages) and represents a destination for a bitcoin payment.
Each Bitcoin address contains a string of 26-35 alphanumeric characters, but can also be shown as a scannable QR code. All bitcoin addresses begin with either 1 or 3. At Wirex, all generated addresses start with the number 3, referring to the multi-signature technology that is used for all our wallets. Feel free to read more about bitcoin addresses and multi-signature technology in Bitcoin Wiki.
You can get your Wirex BTC address when viewing your Bitcoin Account/Bitcoin Wallet (on mobile) details in your Wirex account.
