WIREX PROHIBITED COUNTRIES
You may not use your Wirex Profile, the Wirex Platform, any Wirex Product, or any Wirex Service to engage in activities involving:
- Individuals or entities located in, or operations connected to, any of the following jurisdictions: Afghanistan, Belarus, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea), the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cuba, Eritrea, Libya, Myanmar, Russia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Yemen, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Mali, the Central African Republic, Guinea-Bissau, Lebanon, Venezuela, or Zimbabwe; or
- Any other country, individual, or entity sanctioned by the United Nations Security Council or under the applicable laws of your country of residence.
WIREX PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES
You may not use your Wirex Profile and/or Wirex Platform and/or Wirex Product and/or Wirex Services to engage in the following categories of activity:
Unlawful Activity:
Activity which would violate, or assist in violation of, any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or sanctions programs administered in the countries where Wirex conducts business, or which would involve proceeds of any unlawful activity; and publishing, distributing or disseminating any unlawful material or information.
Abusive Activity:
Actions which impose an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on our infrastructure, or detrimentally interfere with, intercept, or expropriate any system, data, or information; transmit or upload any material to Wirex Platform that contains viruses, trojan horses, worms, or any other harmful or deleterious programs; attempt to gain unauthorized access to any Wirex Platform, other Wirex Profile, computer systems or networks connected to any Wirex Platform, through password mining or any other means; use Wirex Profile information of another party to access or use the Wirex Platforms, except in the case of specific merchants and/or applications which are specifically authorized by a client to access such client's Wirex Profile and information; or transfer your account access or rights to your account to a third party, unless by operation of law or with the express permission of Wirex.
Abuse other Clients:
Interfere with another individual’s or entity's access to or use of Wirex Platform and/or any Wirex Services. Defame, abuse, extort, harass, stalk, threaten or otherwise violate or infringe the legal rights (such as, but not limited to, rights of privacy, publicity and intellectual property) of others. Harvest or otherwise collect information from the Wirex platforms about others, including without limitation email addresses, without proper consent.
Fraud:
Activity which operates to defraud Wirex, Wirex clients, or any other person; provide any false, inaccurate, or misleading information to Wirex.
Internet Gambling and Unlawful Gambling:
Unless sanctioned by a governmental body or regulatory authority, you are prohibited from engaging in lotteries; bidding fee auctions; sports forecasting or odds making; fantasy sports leagues with cash prizes; internet gaming; contests; sweepstakes; or any other games of chance.
Intellectual Property Infringement:
Engage in transactions involving items that infringe or violate any copyright, trademark, right of publicity or privacy or any other proprietary right under the law, including but not limited to sales, distribution, or access to counterfeit music, movies, software, or other licensed materials without the appropriate authorization from the rights holder. Use of Wirex intellectual property, name, or logo, without express consent from Wirex or in a manner that otherwise harms Wirex or the Wirex brand. Any action that implies an untrue endorsement by or affiliation with Wirex.
Restricted Financial Services
Services involving check cashing, bail bonds, the sale of traveler’s checks, money orders, money transfers, or the activities of collections agencies are restricted. Additionally, payment processors collecting funds on behalf of third-party merchants are not permitted on the platform.
Insurance and Credit-Related Activities
Unlicensed or unauthorised insurance services, as well as certain credit transactions and debt settlement services, are not allowed. These services present regulatory and consumer protection concerns and are therefore restricted.
Unfair, Predatory, or Deceptive Practices
Any business model or service deemed to be misleading, exploitative, or harmful to consumers is prohibited. This includes the resale of government services or offerings
without proper authorisation or added value, the resale of services without a tangible benefit to the buyer, and any activity that, in our sole discretion, constitutes an unfair or deceptive practice.
High-Risk Business Models
We prohibit businesses that present an elevated financial, legal, or reputational risk, or those that violate applicable laws, card network rules, or banking policies. We reserve the right to determine, at our discretion, which businesses fall into this category.
Multi-Level and Referral Marketing Schemes
Business models such as pyramid schemes, multi-level marketing, network or direct marketing, telemarketing services, and travel-related or referral-based sales programs that lack clear consumer value are not permitted.
Intellectual Property or Proprietary Rights Infringement:
Sales, distribution, or access to counterfeit music, movies, software, or other licensed materials without the appropriate authorization from the rights holder.
Counterfeit or Unauthorized Goods
The sale or resale of counterfeit, unauthorised, or stolen goods is strictly prohibited. This includes brand-name or designer products offered without proper authorisation, goods that are illegally imported or exported, and stolen physical, digital, or virtual items. Additionally, any services or content that promote, facilitate, or instruct others to engage in illegal activity are not allowed.
Regulated Products and Services
We prohibit the sale of products and services that are subject to strict legal and regulatory controls. This includes illegal marijuana dispensaries and cannabis-related businesses, the unlawful sale of tobacco, e-cigarettes, or e-liquid, and unauthorised online pharmaceutical or prescription drug services. The operation of wholesale distribution of prescription or proprietary drugs, chemical products, or related materials is also restricted. Businesses offering age-restricted goods or services, as well as those dealing in weapons, ammunition, firearm parts or accessories, explosives, fireworks, toxic, flammable, or radioactive materials, are not permitted. We also restrict products and services that have differing legal status depending on jurisdiction, where legal compliance cannot be clearly ensured.
Drugs and Drug-Related Products
The sale of narcotics, controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia is strictly prohibited. This includes any equipment used for the manufacture or consumption of drugs, such as bongs, vaporizers, or hookahs. The policy extends to steroids,
unapproved pharmaceuticals, and products making unverified or misleading health claims not authorised by relevant national or local regulators. The sale of legal substances intended to mimic the effects of illegal drugs, such as salvia or kratom, is also banned. Additionally, any product that poses a potential health or safety risk to consumers falls under this restriction.
Adult Content and Services:
Pornography and other obscene materials (including literature, imagery and other media); sites offering any sexually related services that are illegal in the country in which you are using Wirex services such as prostitution, escorts, pay-per view, adult live chat features. Massage parlours and dating and escort services.
Requirement for clarification
The specific types of use listed above are representative, but not exhaustive. If you are uncertain as to whether or not your use of Wirex services involves prohibited use or Prohibited Business or have questions about how these requirements apply to you, please contact us.
Prohibited Articles and Transactions means:
- the promotion of hate, violence, racial intolerance or the financial exploitation of a crime,
- items that are considered obscene,
- involve offering or receiving payments for the purpose of bribery or corruption; (14) are associated with direct marketing services, (15) massage parlours, (16) timeshares; or (17) chemicals and allied products not elsewhere classified.
1. Restrictions on using Wirex Service
You must not use the Wirex Service for any of the following:
- For any illegal purpose, including fraud and money laundering, and for any purpose prohibited by regulation, statute, ordinance, or other governmental or regulatory limitation;
- For any debt-collection purpose;
- To circumvent merchant restrictions or obtain goods or services without paying;
- For commercial speculative trading purposes;
- To manipulate the price of any asset or currency;
- In any manner likely to result in complaints, reversals, chargebacks, fees, fines, penalties, or other liability to Wirex, other clients, third parties, or yourself;
- To provide yourself with a cash advance from your credit card, or help others to do so;
- In any manner which results in a negative balance in any currency;
- To burden or overload our infrastructure, facilitate any viruses, malware, malicious code or other form of IT attack or attempt to gain access to our systems and information;
- To interfere with the Wirex Service in any manner;
- To copy or reproduce our content or services in any manner;
- To interfere with our third party providers in any manner;
- To test credit card behaviours;
- To circumvent our policies and procedures;
- For use with any automatic trading, API, crawler scripts, or other methods inconsistent with ordinary use of the Wirex Service;
- To harass our employees, agents, or other clients; and
- To trade FX for speculative purposes or FX arbitrage.
